The pruning is the cutting of some of the vegetative branches that do not contain any fruits or flowers. This is the common practice in for the plant-planting practitioners. This induces more branching and thus it induces growth. However, before you do the pruning take into account the plant which you going to prune. Different plants react differently to the pruning. Pruning should not damage the plants.

The pruning has various advantages, which include

It reduces the size of the plants. Therefore, they are easy to maintain. Also smaller height facilitates easier care for the plants like spraying of pesticides harvesting etc. the pruning in the earlier stages of the life of the plants induces them to develop better. If you do the pruning in the mature plants, it would increase their branches and yield. By doing so, you can also avoid the prop up of the fruit laden branches.

Selecting the plants for pruning

The pruning is more effective fore the plants that flower and fruit just once in a year. This is because if the plants flower and fruit throughout the year then the pruning may take away the floral buds as well. The pruning is the best effective for the plants that remain dormant for at least some time of year. You should prune the plants at the dormant time.

Pruning procedure

For pruning, use a good sharp tool that is hygienic. The sharpness is important for getting a cut as is necessary. In addition, it is very important that only the vegetative branch only. Do not cut off bigger branches that may harm the plants. Once you prune the plants do not apply any dressing over the wound. The cut should be flush type.

While pruning you should prune the upper portion of the plant more than the lower. Moreover, the pruning should be mild for the younger plants. Remember that plants will bear the pruning only if they do not have to face any serious climatic conditions immediately after the pruning. Therefore, avoid pruning in the months before the winter or in the seasons when there is a danger of bacterial infection i.e. the rains. However, the pruning is most effective before the spring.
